Course Expectations

Spanish 2

I'm looking forward to the year with all of you. In order to make it run more smoothly for both you and me, I ask you to please be familiar with these classroom procedures. If at any time you would like to discuss these procedures, need extra help, or need to see me for any other reason I will make myself available to you. My free periods are block 2, block 8, seminar, and before or after school.

I. Classroom behavior

Inappropriate or disruptive language/behavior is not permitted. If you language/behavior is going to hurt, upset, or bother another student; don't say/do it. Any time your actions interrupt class they are either inappropriate or disruptive, and there will be a consequence.

II. Attendence

Your attendence and participation are very important to me. This may be the only time that you will hear and use Spanish. With the block schedule, absences will be twice as hard for you to make up. You must make up any work you miss. You must make up all work in order to complete course outcomes, however you will not receive credit for work missed as a result of a cut or truancy.

III. Behavior Grade

Everyday you will earn 2 stamps, one for your homework and one for behavior if you arrive on time, bring all your materials, and have no behavior problems. The stamps will be counted at the end of each chapter and recorded as your grade.

IV. Materials

In order to keep yourself organized and to get the most out of the resources we have at school, you will need the following items for class: assignment notebook, text book, workbook, 3-ring binder, pencil/pen. On days that we go to the lab, you will be required to bring a pencil as no pens are allowed in the lab. Failure to bring these items to class will result in loss of your daily stamp.

V. The following items are not permitted in the classroom:

Hats, other work, radios/CD players, calculators, food and drinks (water bottles are ok), please do not use colored pens for any assignments that will be turned in. Each of these will be taken away and may be turned ino the Dean.

VI. Make-up work

You are responsible for finding out about any work missed during an absence. When you are absent you must come see me on the day in between (the day class does not meet) to find out missed assignments, schedule make-ups of quizzes and/or tests, and turn in homework that was due during the absence. This way you will be caught up and ready to go the next day when class meets again. If you are absent the only way you can earn your daily behavior points and credit for your homework is to see me the day before class meets again or (if you are absent the day in-between) by 7:15 the morning of your return to school. If your absence is due to a field trip you will earn your behavior points and credit for your homework only by coming to me to find out what you will miss before your field trip.

VII. Grading

5% behavior
15% homework
35% quizzes and practice
45% tests

VIII. Tardies

In order to get the most out of our time together, I expect you to be inside the classroom when the bell rings. If you are tardy, please go up to the board and write your name below our agenda. If you are tardy you will lose your stamp which will lower your overall behavior grade. On the third tardy and beyond you will lose points and serve detention after school. On the fourth I will call home. The fifth and beyond will be referred to the Dean.

IX. Homework

You should expect to receive homework every time we have class. Some of it will be turned in for a grade. The rest will be 5 point assignments, which we will correct in class. Homework will be assessed as follows: no credit give unless 100% complete, no partial credit on 5 point assignments, and no late homework accepted. Homework due during an absence is due the day of your return.

X. Quizzes and Tests

If you are cheating or assisting someone to cheat on an assignment, quiz, or test you will receive an automatic zero. Talking during a quiz or test, even if yours is turned in, will result in points off your grade. Make-ups due to absences must be taken or at least scheduled with me within 2 days of your return. Students absent the class before a quiz or test but present the day it was announced are expected to take the scheduled quiz or test provided no new material was covered.

XI. Stickers

If you earn stickers in this class, for getting good grades or volunteering, save them on the inside of your workbook. At the end of each quarter I will bring prizes that you can redeem for your stickers.

XII. Study Habits

The following are guidelines that must be followed to insure your success:
-Do your homework on the day it is assigned not the day it is due.
-Use your book and/or notes when doing any practice work to look up correct answers.
-Study vocab 10-15 minutes on the days that class does not meet.
-Get help immediately!! Do not les yourself get behind!!!!

¡Llegar a tiempo!

5% conducta
25% tarea y proyectos
30% pruebas
40% exámenes
