Physics
- Course Description
Physics is the most basic of all sciences. It's about the nature of basic things such as motion, forces, energy, matter, heat, sound, and light. While in the class you will discover that physics is a part of out surroundings, and as a result answers the "How's?" and "Why's" of life.
- Required Materials
The following supplies must be brought to class on a daily basis:
- Textbook
- Notebook
- Pen or Pencil
- Graphing calculater
- Homework
Homework must be turned in the day that it is due. I will stamp for homework everyday. No stamps will be awarded for late work. It must, however, be completed to receive credit when stamp sheets are collected.
- Tests and Quizzes
Tests will be given approximately every 3 weeks. They will be given a the end of each unit. they consist of both multiple choice and written/problem solving. I will give pop quizzes and homework quizzes periodically. We will also have some announced quizzes for some of the larger topics.
- Laboratory Reports
Lab reports are to be completed to the best of your ability and turned in by the deadline. Each student is to submit a lab report. There are no group reports unless otherwise stated.
- Grading
Grading is done on a point system. 60% of your grade will be determined from quizzes and tests, 40% will be determined from homework and lab reports. I will provide grade sheets twice each quarter.
The Grading Scale will be as follows:
90-100%-A
80-89%-B
70-79%-C
60-69%-D
below 60%-F
- Final Exam
The Final Exam will account for 15% of the overall grade. The 18 week grade will make up the other 85%.
- Attendance
Daily attendance is important in order for you to learn each new topic. You are responsible for keeping up with missed work. It is highly recommended to utilize Seminar when you are absent. My Seminar room is C221. An unexcused absence on the day of a test will result in a grade of zero.
- Tardiness
Tardiness is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. You will be considered tardy if you are not in your seat when the bell rings.ÊRemember the tardy policy, 1st Warning, 2nd, Consequence, 3rd Referal.Ê
- Class Expectations
Treat every member of the class and the teacher with respect.
Attend class every day.
Be on time and ready to work when the bell rings.
Be prepared for class each day.
Complete all work on time and in a satisfactory manner.
Participate in class. Ask questions.
Seek help immediately when you are having difficulty understanding material. I am more than willing to provide you with extra help.
