Marching Mustangs are made up of all students enrolled in Concert and Symphonic Band as well as Instrumental (Percussion) Ensemble I and II. The Marching Mustangs meet as separate classes each day during the respectively scheduled band periods. Additionally, the Marching Mustangs meet one night a week during the fall from 6:30-9:00 p.m. Students start the year by attending the RMHS Early Summer Music Camp for a couple of nights in June/July and the mandatory Annual Marching Mustang Band Camp. This camp is traditionally held during the first full week of August from Monday through Friday. The Marching Mustangs perform at all home football games, two marching contests, an optional university band day trip, and the end of the season Band-O-Rama concert which features all music played during the MM season. The MM season generally ends the last week of October.
Please note that there is no class listing for Marching Band. All band related courses are year long. Marching Band is simply a title given to this unit of the band program curriculum. Thus, students cannot opt only to do or not do the marching portion of the year. This is very similar to other courses such as a volleyball unit in PE or a unit on a certain book in Literature.
