Taking the major home basketball game schedule for boys and girls, we are dividing it into half. Each band student will be assigned to either the PURPLE band or the GOLD band. Thus, it is your responsibility to attend the game your color band is assigned. If for some reason you cannot make a game, it is up to you to find a replacement to avoid a grade deduction and to guarantee that we have a good and balanced instrumentation. There is a form to fill out in the front of the Band Room. Attendance will be taken at each game. Any game that you attend that you are not assigned to will count as extra credit. Overall, you will notice that the schedule has been kept to a minimum. Remember that playing in the band gets you into the games for free. Also, Pep Band is more informal than marching band. Our ?uniform? will be the polo shirts.
In Pep Band, students will have the opportunity to direct the band on various pieces. For percussion, we will use a drum set and a lot of auxiliary instruments. For the fight song we will use traditional battery and pit percussion. Music to be played includes pop, jazz, rock, novelty, cheers, chants, and traditional pep tunes. Pep Band Books will be available to check out at any time if you would like to look at some of the music. If you have any suggestions for tunes we could play, let the directors know right away so that we can look into possibly ordering them.
