Rebuild the Pass

Rebuild the Pass. Over the past two years Rolling Meadows High School has commited itself to helping rebuild the Pass Christian, Mississippi community. A rural gulf coast community of approximately 6,500 residents, Pass Christian was virtually obliterated by Hurricane Katrina’s 28-foot storm surge on August 29, 2005. As of the summer of 2007, there were still over 300 FEMA trailers in Pass Christian   To date, sewer and water services still are not completely restored to all areas.

The Results of our 2006 Rebuild Homes Project. The Rotary Club of Pass Christian continues to lead a home rebuilding effort for the neediest of the community in partnership with the Mennonite Disaster Services.  As a result of our Fall 2006 effort which raised $6,700, Mrs. Anna Swanier was able to move into her new home in April of 2007. Anna lost everything in the storm and was unable to rebuild her home, but still owned the property that had been in her family for years.  In addition she is raising her grandson after a previous family tradjedy.  Anna is a wonderfully humble woman full of gratitude and faith.
