CCR - Application Process: Schools and Scholarships
Applications
Many applications are available in the College Career Room (CCR). Applications can also be downloaded and/or completed online. Students may have their applications processed through the CCR. Please be aware that we require applications to be submitted 15 school days prior to the deadline in order to guarantee that the application will be postmarked by the deadline. Processing is a general review of the application to make sure that all required components are included. Students need to either address an envelope, or provide a preaddressed envelope, to the college. Since the district will provide the postage, DO NOT put any stamps or a return address on the envelope.

Transcripts
All official transcripts must be requested through the CCR where transcript release forms are available. The first three transcripts requested are free. Each subsequent transcript requested will be assessed a one dollar fee. ALL TRANSCRIPTS ARE CONSIDERED OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS AND, THEREFORE, ARE NOT RELEASED TO STUDENTS. INSTEAD OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS ARE MAILED DIRECTLY FROM OUR SCHOOL TO THE COLLEGES AND/OR SCHOLARSHIP SPONSORS.

Test Scores
Beginning with the 2004-2005 school year, District 214 will no longer post ACT and SAT scores on student transcripts. Students will need to make arrangements with the individual testing agencies (e.g. ACT or College Board) to have their scores sent directly to the schools of their choice. Students may include a photocopy of their score report with their application and/or transcript. At some point the student will need to send official test scores through the test agency(ies). If a student would like to have their test scores released with their transcript, they must sign a special release form. Go to "Forms" in the menu bar, or come to the CCR, for a release form.
Recommendations
Students often ask whether or not they should include a letter of recommendation with their application(s). The value placed on recommendations can vary greatly from school to school. Some schools encourage and place great importance on recommendations while some schools place little or no value on recommendations. Students are encouraged to review the admission requirements regarding recommendations at the schools to which they apply. Even schools that discourage recommendations will, at minimum, read letters of recommendation and any other materials students send.
If you would like someone to write you a letter of recommendation, it is in your best interest to provide the person with more background information about yourself. Students are encouraged to fill out the "Student Information for Recommendation Form" and provide the completed form to the person writing their letter of recommendation.
