Senior Resource Booklet


A booklet with some key facts and useful information for all students in the class of 2017 was provided during Senior Curriculum, which was conducted, in place of PE, on Tuesday, September 6, and Wednesday, September 7, 2016.  You can download a PDF of the booklet by clicking on the link above.  

Senior Curriculum Presentation
Mr. Yerkan, along with the Rolling Meadows High School counselors, will access seniors through their PE classes on Tuesday, September 6, and Wednesday, September 7, to attend the Senior Curriculum program.  The parent version of the senior program was conducted at 7PM on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, in the RMHS Theatre.  To view the PowerPoint used during the presentation, click HERE.
Junior Resource Booklet


A booklet with some important information for juniors was presented to the class of 2017 during Junior Curriculum I, which took place on Monday, November 7, and Tuesday, November 8, 2016.  You can download a PDF copy of the booklet by clicking on the link above.

Junior Curriculum Presentation

Mr. Yerkan, along with the Rolling Meadows counselors, conducted several presentations as part of Junior Curriculum I.  Juniors reported to the theatre during their English classes on Monday, November 7, and Tuesday, November 8, 2016, to attend the Junior Curriculum I program.  You can click on the link above to view a PDF of the PowerPoint presentation.  After the presentation students went to computer labs with their counselors to do a college search using their Naviance Accounts. 

The parent version of the presentation will be conducted at 7 PM on Thursday, February 9, 2017, in the RMHS Theatre. 

Advanced Placement (AP) Classes (AP Credit)

Interested in taking a challenging, college-level course while still in high school?  Research shows that students who take at least one AP class while in high school have a higher success rate at colleges and universities.  As an added bonus you may even be able to earn college credit after taking the AP Exam for the course!  To find out what AP score is needed for credit at different schools, click on AP Credit, above.

So, You Want To Go To College? Presentation

Mr. Yerkan  conducted a presentation, for freshmen, sophomores and their parents, promoting a college going culture among underclassmen. The presentation focused on what students can be doing to prepare themselves for college beginning as early as their freshman year.

D214 Senior Financial Aid Night

The D214 College Counselors hosted their annual Financial Aid Night, for seniors and their parents, at 7PM on Thursday, September 29, 2016, in the Rolling Meadows High School Theatre.  Our presenter was, once again, Mark Anderson, Associate Director of Financial Aid at Lake Forest College.  You can view a PDF of the PowerPoint presentation by clicking on the link above.

D214 FAFSA Completion Night

On Tuesday, October 18, the D214 College Counselors will be hosting a FAFSA Completion Night in the library of Wheeling High School (900 S. Elmhurst Rd., Wheeling).  Two sessions will be held, one at 6:30PM and the other at 7:45PM.  No reservations are required. Attendees will be assisted on a first come, first served basis.  In order to more efficiently help families, those planning to attend are asked to bring:

  • FSA IDs for the student and one parent (apply for IDs before hand at:
  • Completed 2015 Federal tax returns, with W-2s and all attachments, for student and parents
  • Driver's license for the student
  • Assets summary, EXCLUDING home equity and retirement assets, for student and parent(s).

 D214 Advising the Student Athlete Program
D214's annual "Advising the Student Athlete"  program was held on Monday, November 21, 2016, in the Forest View Educational Center (FVEC) Theatre, 2121South Goebbert Rd., in Arlington Heights.  The presenter for the program was, once again, Maureen A. Junior Curriculum II
On Tuesday, January 31 and Wednesday, February 1, the Rolling Meadows Counselors will pull juniors from their U.S. History classes to conduct the Junior Curriculum II Program, which will focus on post high school planning.
 D214 Ask the College Night

On Thursday, February 16, 2017, at 7:00 PM, the D214 College Counselors hosted the annual "Ask the College Night" at the Forest View Educational Center (FVEC) Theatre (2121 South Goebbert Rd., Arlington Heights).  Attendees had the opportunity to learn what it would be like to attend different types of institutions:  the local community college, a four-year in-state public school, a four-year out-of-state public school, and a four-year private school.  Each presenter shared some of the benefits and differences of attending his or her type of institution.  Audience members had the opportunity to ask the school representatives any questions they had about the types of schools represented:

Community College:

 D214 Junior Financial Aid Night

The financial aid night, for juniors and their parents, took place at 7PM on Monday, March 13, 2017, in the Rolling Meadows High School Theatre.  The program, originally to be presented by Mr. Scott Seibring, Director of Financial Aid at Illinois Wesleyan University, was instead presented by Ruth Pusich, Director of Financial Aid at Elmhurst College.  You can download a pdf of the PowerPoint of Ms. Pusich's presentation by clicking on the purple tab, above.  To view and listen to a recording of the PowerPoint presentation, click HERE.

Junior College Essay Writing Presentation
